Frequently Asked Questions
A portable cabin is built on a steel chassis from scratch — not made from a shipping container. It can be loaded onto a truck and relocated anytime. Portable cabins are popular in Australia (granny flats) and Africa (mining camps) because they are easier to transport on local roads.
A flat pack container house has walls, roof and floor panels manufactured separately and stacked flat into a shipping container. On site, a crane lifts the panels and workers bolt them together in about 2 hours. The heavier steel frame makes flat pack stronger than detachable — suitable for 2 to 3 storey stacking.
Detachable containers assemble from separate panels using hand tools — no crane needed, good for remote areas. Foldable containers are pre-assembled at factory and fold up for shipping. On site, two workers unfold and lock one in 5 minutes with no tools. Foldable is faster but more expensive and cannot be stacked.
Detachable: 15–17 units. Flat Pack: 14–16 units. Foldable: 10 units (folded). Expandable: 2–6 units. Portable Cabin: 1–2 units. The detachable type gives the best shipping efficiency for large orders.
Yes — detachable and flat pack types can be stacked up to 3 storeys with appropriate steel connectors and external staircases. Our engineering team provides stacking drawings and structural calculations. Foldable, expandable and portable cabin types are single-storey only.
